Epok Epok Sayur

Quite sometimes didn't make this vegetable puffs.. normally I will use the 'ghee' oil but this time I tried Raihana's recipe in making the dough..its true what she said that it stays crispy for sometimes after frying it..
As for the filling, I used my normal method like what I used for my popiah filling..except that I didn't put in the taukwa(hard bean curd)..

Ingredients For The Dough:-
350 grams plain flour (I sieved)
100 grams butter, soften
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
100ml water

Method:-
Place the flour in a large bowl, add in the butter and mix well until it resembles bread crumbs. Add in the egg, mix again. Then add the water, a little at a time and mix the dough till it is smooth. Put aside for few minutes. Divide into small balls, like a ping pong balls and put aside.( I weighed about 50g each..to get a bigger size epok2)
Sources:-From Raihana's blog- taste-budsrya.blogspot.com

On steps by steps how to 'kelim' the edges of epok2 you can come here.

Ingredients For Filling:-
4 garlics crushed or minced
90g prawns diced
300g bean sprout(50cents)
1 small yam bean cut like match sticks
1 carrot juliened
1 tbsp white pepper powder
some celery and spring onions sliced
salt and msg to taste

Method:-
Heat oil, saute garlics and white pepper. Add in carrots, turnip and mix well till soft.Add in prawns, salt and MSG to taste. Add in beans sprout, celery and spring onions. Turn off heat. Do not over fry the bean sprout or else it will be too soggy. Let cooled and ready for fillings.

Ingredients For Sauce:-
4 red chillies minced
1 garlic minced
3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
some water if required

Method:-
Put to boil all the ingredients. Ready and let cool. Dip epok2 in sauce.
